Abstract

Changes in daily activity patterns, particularly the increasing prevalence of working from home, have led to a growing demand for furniture that can support both sitting and working activities simultaneously. Prolonged sitting requires furniture that is not only visually comfortable but also meets ergonomic principles to prevent fatigue and potential health issues. Chairs, as essential furniture elements, play a crucial role in supporting user comfort and productivity. However, conventional seating furniture is generally designed with a single function, making it less adaptive to the limited space commonly found in modern residential interiors. Therefore, multifunctional furniture concepts emerge as a relevant solution to optimize both functionality and spatial efficiency. This study focuses on the design of a multifunctional wooden chair capable of accommodating sitting and working activities within a single furniture unit. The design process applies ergonomic principles, utilizes wood as the primary structural material, and integrates supporting elements for work-related activities. The resulting design is expected to serve as a reference for the development of ergonomic furniture that aligns with the needs of contemporary living environments.
