Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death worldwide, with excessive vehicle speed being a major contributing factor. This study aims to design and develop a vehicle speed monitoring and alarm system based on SMS notifications, which sends real-time alerts to drivers or relevant parties when the vehicle speed exceeds the predetermined threshold. The system utilizes an infrared sensor connected to an Arduino Uno to continuously monitor vehicle speed. If the speed exceeds the set limit, a buzzer is activated as a warning, and an SMS notification is sent through the SIM800L module. Testing results indicate that the system is capable of providing timely warnings and can help reduce the risk of traffic accidents caused by excessive speed.
